A transitional rock band, with a touch of funk and the afterglow of glam.
Simple guitar riffs and soulful elements coexist, showing a new direction for Marc Bolan in his later years after the heyday of glam rock.
This single comes from a period when Marc Bolan, after the heyday of glam rock, was incorporating influences from soul and funk. The A-side, "Zip Gun Boogie," is a light-hearted number with a boogie rhythm and a light riff, reaching number 41 in the UK charts. The B-side, "Space Boss," features a more funky beat, symbolizing the direction of T. Rex's later work. While retaining the foundations of rock 'n' roll, this album also exudes an experimental spirit for a sound that was ahead of its time.
