バンドが揺れ動いていた中でのZep初の2枚組オリジナルアルバム。
1975年にリリースされた6thアルバム。シングルリカットされた『Trampled Under Foot』、バンドを代表する1曲でもある『Kashmir』など、2枚組にせざるを得ない15曲を収録。
1974年にAtlanticと契約が切れた為、プライベートレーベル"Swan Song"の立ち上げ、John Paul Jones(Ba.)が脱退希望とバンドが揺れ動いていた時期の作品。完全新作は8曲だったが、未発表曲7曲も収録する事を決めた為、2枚組に。本来は1974年のリリースであったが、ミキシング等の遅れもあり、1975年2月のリリースとなった。
