Although they were popular as idols in Japan, they were primarily an American Progressive Hard Rock band.
Their first album was released in 1976. The Japanese title was "Angel Bigaku". Because all the members wore white outfits, the band was marketed as idols rather than their original sound.
The moog sound that reminds me of Keith Emerson makes me realize that they are a progressive rock band. The final song on this album, "Angel (Theme)", is said to be a melody that Randy Rhoads borrowed from Ozzy Osbourne's "Mr. Crowley" when composing the song.
