The first masterpiece from this genius artist.
This work was released in 1956. It is a quintet work with familiar members Jack Sheldon (Tp.), Russ Freeman (Pf.), Leroy Vinnegar (Ba.), and Shelly Manne (Dr.), who are representative members of West Coast Jazz.
The destructive genius artist Art Pepper was repeatedly admitted to and discharged from sanatoriums due to his drug addiction, and after he left in June 1956, he recorded a series of masterpieces that will remain in his lifetime, starting with this one. This is one of those masterpieces, featuring familiar standards performed in his unique style in a relaxed atmosphere with thrilling playing.
