The legendary session that marked the birth of hard bop
Recorded in 1954. Featuring JJ Johnson and Horace Silver, this is a masterpiece that laid the foundation for hard bop.
This is a historic session recorded by Miles Davis in 1954. "Walkin'" is considered the turning point from cool jazz to hard bop. It features a star-studded lineup including JJ Johnson (trombone), Lucky Thompson (tenor sax), Horace Silver (piano), Percy Heath (bass), and Kenny Clarke (drums). The title track features a passionate solo built on a blues progression, and had a major impact on the jazz scene of the time.
