The innocent pleasure of beat pop, which relies more on rhythm than meaning.A German garage beat group releases an album full of wordplay and rhythmic feeling. Pure party pop that's more fun to dance to than listen to. "Balla Balla" is a 1960s hit by the group The Rainbows, whose charm lies in its nonsensical title and lyrics. It's a great example of energetic beat pop coming out of Germany, a land outside the UK and the US, and is the kind of tune that gets the crowd going. On the other hand, "Ju Ju Hand" has a groove that reminds us of rockabilly, and a more intense garage feel. It's a good novelty rock song that you can listen to for its "instantaneous heat" rather than a hit song. |
