Miyazawa Akira, a master of Japanese jazz who has left behind important works that evoke Japan's original landscapes, such as "Yamame," "Iwana," and "Kiso," has created a unique work based on themes of "Yakuza movie songs," "Enka," and "Military songs," with all songs arranged in jazz rock/rare groove by Yagi Masao!
The personnel credits for "Soul Leon" are unknown, but given the tight sound image, strong groove, and the timing of its release in 1969, there is a theory that it may have been recorded the night before Sound Limited was formed.
"Abashiri Bangaichi" features a rustic flute supporting the theme, evoking a taste of Ethiopian funk. "Ryuten" is a Latin jazz-rock track with striking congas and vibraphone. "Zatoichi Lullaby" creates a superb groove from the intro drum break, intertwined with smooth, lustrous saxophone. All of these tracks are Japanese groove sound spectacles made up of a mysterious combination, emanating a unique presence.
