The long-awaited vinyl release from Tocago, an alternative indie folk band that inherits the lineage of roots music such as US indie folk and country!
This alternative sound, with its soft yet powerful sound and songs woven from an original perspective, has a unique presence and is a must-listen!
Tokyo-based alternative indie folk band Tocago has announced the release of a vinyl record featuring their two EPs, "How are you feeling?" and "Wonder," as well as the single "Ie" (Home). Originally a singer-songwriter, Chizuru Oki is joined by a talented lineup of musicians, including Satoshi Isobe (bass), also a member of KiQ and Puné Loi; Asuka Mori (guitar), who has released ambient music herself; and Takumi Isobe (drums), a member of South Penguin and Guiba, who also supports various artists. Tocago's style naturally incorporates the human qualities of US indie folk, incorporating soothing melodies and textures. The powerful yet ephemeral voice of vocalist Chizuru Oki perfectly complements this. Their sound appeals to a wide audience, from those who prioritize feeling and groove to those who gravitate toward vocals and lyrics. This is the band's first vinyl release, featuring a number of outstanding tracks, including the title track from their debut EP, "Wonder," which was released as their debut single and is filled with the soul of East Coast indie folk, giving off a sense of both beauty and tingle at the same time; "Koper," from their second EP, which is infused with a more country and pastoral feel; and "Yellow Sand," in which each instrument supports the vocals with an exquisite balance, blending freshness and depth!
