Zara Larsson, the global pop queen born in Stockholm, Sweden, whose music videos have been viewed an astounding 3.4 billion times, has released her first new album since "Venus" in February 2024!
Produced by Margo XS and produced with songwriter Helena Gao and frequent collaborator MNEK, Zara's storytelling reveals authenticity and vulnerability, charting her artistic depth and growth, and her nearly two decades in the public eye.
The single, "Pretty Ugly," was co-written by Zara herself and UK singer-songwriter/producer MNEK. Over a robust drum and beat that evokes the essence of 2010s global electro and 1990s house music, Zara vocally expresses the real feelings of girls, singing, "Sometimes girls don't want to be well-behaved!" and "Have you ever seen a girl this ugly?" Zara also said of the album, "When I was thinking about this album, I was so proud of Swedish pop that I wanted to write about a Swedish summer where the sun never sets. The whole album feels like a summer night that never ends, and it doesn't matter if it's December, the summer night is there, waiting for you, and will come back for you." The new album is truly Zara's true essence, unashamedly expressing all facets of the 27-year-old: love, yearning, ambition, sass, frivolity, and uncertainty.
