Misa Yoneyama's solo project, Buu, has released her first live album, "Kusakage," through Kyoto-based music label Disk Sibasi. This album gives a glimpse of her current state.
At the end of 2024, the album was recorded at Shibashi, a cultural space renovated from a 100-year-old townhouse in Kyoto, with guest guitarist Kota Yamauchi. This live album was recorded in a shadowy tatami room with a garden where bamboo groves sway in the wind as a backdrop!
"Tinsagunu Hana," a representative Okinawan folk song released as a pre-release single, sings of the timeless importance of parental teachings, resonating with us through the ages, just as the red flowers of balsam stain our toes. For her, who has been creating and performing with a focus on the origins of song, folk songs are born from everyday life and are always connected to our daily lives. This album features one of her signature songs, "Akarui Kurai," a cover of Wataru Takada's "O-Familiar Short Letter," "Tsuki-hi," a song inspired by her experiences living in Okinawa, and "Stone," a song not yet released on an album. It's truly a recording of the best selection of songs.
