This was Zep's first original double album, released at a time when the band was in a state of flux.
The sixth album, released in 1975. It contains 15 songs that had to be split into two discs, including the single "Trampled Under Foot" and one of the band's most famous songs, "Kashmir."
After their contract with Atlantic expired in 1974, the band launched their own label, "Swan Song," and John Paul Jones (bass) wanted to leave the band, creating a period of uncertainty for the band. The album contained eight completely new songs, but they also decided to include seven previously unreleased tracks, making it a two-disc set. It was originally scheduled for release in 1974, but due to delays in mixing and other factors, it was released in February 1975.
