The annual Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert was held on January 1, 2025!
The year 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss II, and will see world-renowned classical music master Riccardo Muti appear for the seventh time, his first appearance in four years since 2021, when he performed without an audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert is held every year on January 1st. It is one of the most famous classical music events, broadcast from Vienna's Golden Musikverein to over 90 countries on TV and radio, and is watched by 50 million people. This concert, which has a history of over 75 years since it began in 1939, features waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family, which symbolize Vienna, the city of music. This time, in addition to the classics "The Beautiful Blue Danube" and "Rakoczi March," waltzes by Constanze Geiger, a female composer active in the 19th century, were also performed.
