The Dare, a super twee pop band from Lombok, Indonesia, have released their third EP, "369 Days," a tropical indie pop masterpiece that rivals legendary bands like Dolly Mixture, Tiger Trap, and Heavenly!

This definitive album contains 8 tracks, fusing elements of indie pop, twee pop, riot grrrl, pop punk, surf music, tropical music, and more! Lyrics and translations are included.

This four-piece girl band, based on the Indonesian island of Lombok, began performing in November 2017. The members are Riri (guitar and vocals), Yollan (guitar), Meiga (bass), and Desita (drums). They released their first EP, "Inthrovvvert," in 2018 and began performing live at Record Store Day Lombok 2018 on April 21st of the same year. The band's name, "The Dare," comes from the Sasak word "Dedare," meaning "girl." The name embodies their spirit of redefining "being a girl" as "being brave." Heavily influenced by the 1990s riot grrrl movement, their music and lyrics express resistance to sexism, prejudice, and stereotypes, as well as the joy of being a woman. Their indie pop sound is deeply influenced by bands on K Records, Sarah Records, and C86 compilations, particularly Heavenly and Tiger Trap. Having grown up watching Japanese anime as children, the girls cite theme songs such as JUDY AND MARY's "Freckles" (from "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story") and Hysteric Blue's "Grow Up" (from "Gakkou no Kaidan") as influences, as well as Japanese punk rock and pop-punk bands (Shounen Knife, PiGGiES, etc.). They enjoy immense popularity in Indonesia's indie scene, with their limited edition records selling out immediately. They are one of the most important indie pop bands, filling live houses and thrilling audiences. "369 Days" is their third EP, released in 2025, and explores themes such as "life and death," "love for loved ones," and "loss and hope." Opening with the surf instrumental M1 "White Sand" that evokes the beach scenery of Lombok Island, the album continues with the pure guitar pop of M2 "Sunburn" and M3 "Swanky Fools" that are sure to get you singing along, the indie pop of M5 "Yes Sir!" with its sparkling guitar that evokes a sense of melancholy, the fast-paced jangly pop of M6 "BLA BLA BLAH" that is reminiscent of Dolly Mixture, and the catchy, surf-flavored indie rock of M7 "Hello Mama". This is a monumental work by a four-piece girl band that has spread its wings from Indonesia to the world.
