This is the second solo album by Mike Rutherford, known as the guitarist/bassist of Genesis.
While their previous album, "Smallcreep's Day," was a progressive work with a strong conceptual feel, this album takes a turn towards a simpler, more straightforward rock sound.
The album's greatest feature is that Rutherford himself is the lead vocalist. His rugged, slightly husky voice has a rustic flavor that is different from the sophisticated image of Genesis, giving the songs a personal atmosphere. The guitar-driven arrangements and tight rhythms also evoke the rock sensibility of the time, which was emerging after the New Wave movement.
