Raging heat, surging passion. Here is the "unvarnished" Fukui Ryo that no one knows about.
A completely unreleased live recording that was the catalyst for the creation of "Mellow Dream."
Who would have thought that Ryo Fukui had left behind such a recording? This is a completely unreleased live recording from June 8, 1977. It was recorded at the Sapporo live house "Bidoro" by Masataka Ito, producer of Fukui's "Scenery" and "Mellow Dream." It truly captures the Fukui Trio's performance from that period, but at the same time, it exudes a power and freshness not found in studio recordings, making it incredibly exciting. The dazzling 16-minute "Mellow Dream" is a must-see, as are the driving "Speak Low," the lustrous "Body & Soul," the driving "Love For Sale," the muscular "Mr. PC," and the simmering "My Foolish Heart." At the time, excerpts from this live performance were approved by Trio Records headquarters, leading to the production of their second album, "Mellow Dream." This is a precious sound source in every sense. Text by Ogawa Yusuke (UNIVERSOUNDS / DEEP JAZZ REALITY) * "Made in Japan" quality has attracted attention from around the world.
