Pia Fraus was formed in 1999 by six students from the University of the Arts in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and has been a key player in the Eastern European shoegaze scene for over 20 years. Their seventh album is finally complete!
The band has earned the trust of shoegaze/dream pop listeners around the world, having previously released an album on America's top shoegaze label, Shelflife Records, and performing in Japan in 2019.
The album begins with "French Exit," a track that soothes the senses with its soft, dreamy roar. Then, in the title track "Evening Colours," Pia Fraus' signature smooth vocals blend into the dreamy soundscape, instantly drawing you into a dream. The retro synth sounds featured prominently in tracks like the fourth, "Sunny Afternoon," are a new feature of this album, effectively warping the image into another dimension within the shoegaze/dream pop genre. The album also includes many tracks, such as "Cloud Winterland," that blend new styles while still retaining the signature Pia Fraus sound. The album as a whole retains elements of roaring shoegaze while also evoking the comfort of the early afternoon, making it an easy-listening album.
