Howlin' Wolf, a stubborn blues wolf, recorded his works for Modern label RPM in 1951 and 1952, and this LP reissue of the album released in 1962 by Modern label Crown Records.
He made his recording debut at the very beginning of his career, when he was over 40 years old, and you're sure to be blown away by the rampage of this blues wolf!
Wolf roared a rough and tough blues in West Memphis, riding on Willie Johnson's unconventional guitar that mixed primitive Delta blues with fancy jazz chords, the powerful backing of drummer Willie Steele and unidentified musicians, and Ike Turner's dynamic piano. The piano was out of tune, the guitar was out of tune, and the harmonica was out of tune, so it was chaotic yet beautiful - there is nothing more shocking than this.
