The soundtrack to the 2007 film directed by François Girard is now available on vinyl for the first time!

The tour will feature a variety of locations, including Europe, Egypt, Russia, and Japan, and will be filled with classical music.

"First Trip to Japan" depicts the protagonist's journey across the snowy plains of Siberia to Japan, with melancholy string melodies and the grand tones of horns and cymbals, concluding with the exotic tones of a stone flute. The piano piece "Snowy Village," which plays in the scene where the protagonist arrives in a snowy village, evokes a sense of dense, cold air with its long reverberations. The piano, which is used extensively in this film, was recorded at Glenn Gould Studio in Canada. Its desolate sound seems to carry on Gould's spirit. "The Girl," which features a scene in which the protagonist falls for a woman he meets in the village, features a slow, arpeggio-playing piano intertwined with a rustling violin, whose rustling and pitch fluctuations evoke an Eastern aesthetic, highlighting the beauty of the woman in her silk kimono. The protagonist travels to Japan three times, and Sakamoto composed a theme song for each of his outbound and return journeys. During the second and third journeys, variations are added to accommodate changing circumstances, skillfully directing the rhythm and flow of time throughout the film. Other pieces, such as "Mill Theme" and "Building the Garden," which make use of pizzicato, generally follow a classical style, but "Revolution" takes a complete turn and develops an ominous sound. This soundtrack allows you to fully experience the diversity of Ryuichi Sakamoto's musical talents.
