Another face of the KISS drummer. A solo debut that reveals the inner world of a soulful man
Peter Criss, known as a member of the hard rock band KISS, has released his solo debut album, which shows a musical style that is completely different from that of the band. The jazzy and soulful songs reflect his roots and true character.
Of the solo albums released by the four members of KISS in 1978, Peter Criss's is the most "unorthodox." Contrary to his flashy makeup and fiery performance, he is soft, warm, and introspective. The opening song "I'm Gonna Love You" has a hint of soul and funk, and the following "You Matter to Me" has a disco-like beat. The ballad "Don't You Let Me Down" features a sad vocal that resonates in the heart. Overall, rather than being rock, it is a sincere work that is strongly influenced by the jazz, soul, and R&B that influenced Peter himself, and is an honest expression of his own musical roots.
