American popular music played on the koto
Kawamura Toshio depicts the fusion of different cultures through Japanese musical instruments.
This is an experimental attempt to perform American popular music using the traditional Japanese instrument, the koto. Thanks to Toshio Kawamura's skillful performance technique, the unique sound of the koto is surprisingly harmonized with the melodies of American pop music. This work serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western musical cultures, and is a fascinating recording that expands the possibilities of the instrument.
