Sloppy Joe is a Tokyo-based Japanese neo-acoustic band that continues to perform worldwide, including at international festivals. Their long-awaited second full-length album, their first in about nine years, has been released on Fastcut Records!
While the core of the sound remains the same, with songs that are directly descended from 80s neo-acoustic and indie pop, colored by skillful musicians and lustrous, somewhat melancholic vocals, the album sees the addition of a new trumpet player, who had been a supporting member until the previous album, and the strength and quality of the songs have increased dramatically.
This album features 11 tracks, including A1 "Lonely Tonight," a gem of a neo-acoustic tune and lead track with a heart-wrenching intro featuring shimmering guitar and trumpet tones; B1 "Once And For All," a popular track released as a 7" single in 2013; and B3 "Waiting For The Night Begins," the title track with its melancholic, adult atmosphere. This album marks the birth of a new masterpiece in the history of indie pop and neo-acoustic music! B4 "I'm a Little Concerned About You" features support from Toshiya Mitsuhashi (WACK WACK RYTHM BAND) on tenor saxophone. Mixing (with some exceptions) and mastering were handled by Kiyoyoshi Sato (microstar). The artwork features a newly drawn work by illustrator Asami Hattori, with design by Yuma Horiuchi (moscow club, SUPER VHS).
