The "King of the Baritone Saxophone," who brought a breath of fresh air to the jazz world with his pianoless (no piano added) arrangement, is joined by piano virtuoso Tommy Flanagan in this special session.
Mulligan's easygoing yet smooth playing, paired with the excellent supporting actor Flanagan, is on full display in every track, from the ballad "Get Out of Town" to "Capricious," which incorporates the then-popular bossa nova sound.
