"Arular" is the political code name of her father, who was involved with a Tamil armed group in Sri Lanka. It all started when she produced demos at home using a Roland MC-505 (groovebox) given to her by a friend. Reflecting her multicultural background, she has established a global reputation with her original sound that fuses diverse genres such as Brazilian baile funk, Jamaican dancehall, and London punk and grime.
