London's buzzing Brit funk
This is one of the best British funk albums, with a rich horn section and dynamic rhythms by a total of eight members.
This album captures the unique style of Funkapolitan, the British funk geniuses who lit up London in the early '80s. August Darnell's sophisticated production skillfully brings together the band's powerful, multi-piece ensemble. Their signature track, "Run Run Run," features urban cutting and flowing horns, embodying the post-punk funk fever. Peter Saville's artwork is also striking, and "As Time Goes By" reached no. 41 in the UK.
