This is a masterpiece that made the name of Brazilian arranger/keyboardist Eumir Deodato known worldwide.
Their bold reconstruction of classic masterpieces and their innovative sound, which combined jazz, funk, and rock, can be said to be a symbol of 1970s crossover music.
The A-side, "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)," is based on the opening of Richard Strauss's symphonic poem "Also Spoke Zarathustra," and features a funky rhythm and an arrangement featuring electric piano. Transforming the well-known melody from the film "2001: A Space Odyssey" into a dancefloor groove, this masterpiece, despite being an instrumental, became a hit in the US.
