Two highlights from the male duo Dew's 1980 "city poetry" and only album, "1st," are released as a 7" single for the first time.
The album includes two tracks: "Hot Whisper," a Latin-flavored city pop song led by melancholic Spanish guitar, and "Night Time," a superb Japanese mellow disco/boogie song led by melancholic piano.
This is the first 7" single from "1st.", the debut and only work of Dew, a male duo consisting of guitarist Yasukawa Hiroshi and keyboardist Kurata Nobuo, released in 1980. It is also a city pop masterpiece known to those in the know. Yasukawa's sweet and refreshing vocals, the woven harmonies, the essence of Brazilian and Latin music, and a disco/boogie-inspired approach create a tasteful city pop sound that is wonderful throughout. Above all, the high-quality melody line that sticks in your ear at first listen is particularly outstanding. "A1. Hot Whisper," a fast-paced track that will move you to tears with its melancholic melody, opens with an impressive phrase of melancholic Spanish guitar, and the bouncing Latin-flavored piano also hits the heart. It races along lightly, riding on a supple urban groove. Furthermore, the superb Japanese mellow disco/boogie track "B1. Night Time," led by a light, emotional, and melancholic piano, is a wonderful dancer with urban lyrics evocative of city nights. This dream 7" single is packed with a timeless melody that pierces the heart and is not influenced by trends, a sound full of urban flair, and a passionate sense of exhilaration!
