A danceable breakup song, the beginning of the disco era.
Disco Queen's debut album.
At a time when the genre of "disco" was still unclear, Gloria Gaynor broke new ground with this album. The title track was originally a Jackson 5 ballad, but here it was transformed into a glamorous disco version with a higher BPM. The pioneering non-stop mix is also noteworthy, and the bold, dance-oriented editing anticipated future club culture. Along with her powerful vocals, this work is a worthy monument to her title as the "Queen of Disco."
