An ideal blend of the close-knit ensemble cultivated in the Scandinavian jazz scene and the elegant swing of American hard bop.
Drew's elegant, bluesy piano, NHØP's incredible running and melodic bass lines, and Catherine's lyrical guitar, which sometimes has a rock nuance, all inspire and energize each other.
The selection of songs, a mix of standards and originals, emphasizes musical dialogue without becoming overly frenetic. Especially in the mid- to fast-tempo numbers, NHØP's driving force pushes the whole album forward, while Drew's sophisticated chord work adds color. Catherine's flexible phrasing adds to this, creating a transparent soundscape unique to European jazz.
