Sviatoslav Richter (March 20, 1915 - August 1, 1997) was hailed as the greatest pianist of the 20th century.
Recorded: February 1989, Vienna
Richter boasted an extensive repertoire and performed many contemporary works, but in terms of recordings he did not leave behind many 20th century works. In spite of this, this live recording from Vienna in February 1989 features only 20th century works and presents a very persuasive performance, making it a very valuable and interesting album.
