An outstanding performance that continues to shine through the ages!
Recorded: October 1958, April and May 1959 in Warsaw, November 1956 in Prague
Sviatoslav Richter (March 20, 1915 - August 1, 1997) was called the greatest pianist of the 20th century. In 1956, Deutsche Grammophon went to Prague and recorded Richter's works by Schumann. This recording was a great success, so Deutsche Grammophon wanted to make another record of Richter, but at that time Richter was not yet allowed to tour the West, so in 1959, they sent a recording team to Warsaw and completed the Schumann recordings included here.
