Sound over music. "Micro Ambient Music" is a tribute to the late Ryuichi Sakamoto's music in his later years, when he continued to focus on small things.
A compilation album put together by Tomoyoshi Date, himself an artist. It features 39 works by 41 artists from Japan and abroad who were directly or indirectly involved with or influenced by Sakamoto, recorded over four hours. Winner of the 2023 German Music Critics' Award in the Electronic & Experimental category. There are many definitions for ambient music, which brings silence when played. Among them, what Ryuichi Sakamoto pursued is evident in his music of his later years, when he began to make extensive use of non-instrumental sounds such as field recordings and noise. "Micro Ambient Music" is a memorial work woven by musicians who admire Sakamoto's music of that era. A collection of music that brings silence using non-instrumental sounds. Analog and digital albums will be released every other month from May 29, 2024.
